Earn Your Citizens for Good Digital Badge
The Citizens for Good Badge recognizes your intentional investment in becoming an engaged citizen. As you grow through experiences rooted in character, knowledge, skills, and a service mindset, you’ll progress through three levels of achievement—from building awareness to demonstrating mastery. Each level reflects your commitment to leading, serving, and contributing, while showcasing experiences that employers and graduate schools value.

The Four Pillars of Civic Agency
Every experience across Texas A&M—from classroom dialogue to leadership institutes and service initiatives—connects back to four foundational pillars. Together, they equip Aggies with the knowledge, character, skills, and service mindset required for lifelong leadership
Character
Students reflect on the Aggie Core Values and personal purpose by participating in a growing list of curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities offered as part of their student experience.
Opportunities here include Aggies reflecting on traditions, service-oriented organizations, leadership institutes, and signature experiences like The Big Event.
Why focus on Character?
The purpose statement of Texas A&M University is: "to develop leaders of character dedicated to serving the greater good." Leadership starts with Character. Here at A&M, character starts with the Aggie Core Values.
Knowledge
An informed appreciation of the responsibilities and rights of citizenship is built on a knowledge of how government and institutions work and an understanding of how to take action where you have a desire or see a need. Critically, "civic friendship" - a friendship based on a common love and purpose - must be practiced.
Opportunities include courses (on campus and online), a curated book list, exhibits, and podcasts.
Skills
Students learn, practice, and ultimately lead in the critical skills of civil discourse and information literacy against the backdrop of civic friendship and Aggie Core Values.
Opportunities include workshops, civic conversations, and symposia.
The state of discourse across the nation is often unproductive, yet the majority of us have more commonality than difference - a well-documented fact. For Aggies to lead us out of this condition, our students must be able to create progress from disagreement and discern fact from opinion.
Service
The art of actively practicing "civic friendship" and selfless contribution to communities at every level — on campus, across Texas, and throughout the nation — is at the heart of service.
Opportunities at Texas A&M extend well beyond the Big Event and are too numerous to list.
Service is the final step in an ever-deepening cycle of community impact. Aggies serve with character, grounded in knowledge, and skilled in driving that impact from teams of disparate people with the differing perspectives today's complex challenges require.
Set yourself apart
Citizens for Good will provide flexible pathways for students to participate and receive recognition based on their level of engagement. Students will be able to complete qualifying courses, events, programs and service experiences across the four pillars of Character, Knowledge, Skills and Service. Depending on the pathway and level of participation, recognition may include badges, certificates, awards, academic credentials or other distinctions. These credentials will help students communicate the value of their experiences to employers, graduate schools and professional networks.
